Project:Effects of breast milk on the functions of intestinal microbiota Message to StudentsIn the field of human medicine, the search and development of genes and biomarkers related to health and disease, as well as the spread of AI and IoT, will enable the selection of optimal treatment methods on an individual patient level, establishing so-called "precision medicine. The veterinary field is broad, and while pet animals such as dogs and cats are moving in the same direction as humans, in the areas of animal husbandry and zoo animals, we need to pay attention to a slightly different trend: innovation in population management methods rather than treatment of individuals. For example, cutting-edge engineering techniques will be used to identify diseased individuals at an early stage and to develop methods for maintaining healthy individuals. I would like to encourage my current students not to be satisfied with being specialists in veterinary research, but to become generalists who have acquired knowledge in medicine, pharmacy, and engineering other than veterinary science.
